Horizontal Form Fill Seal is commonly used in the packaging of solid items that do not flow and so cannot be packaged easily on the simpler and faster vertical form fill seal systems. Some HFFS machines are designed with 2 moulding stations and 2 sealing stations so that changing from one size of pack to another is done easily with no downtime.
